Under the other Vladimir &#8211; Putin &#8211; that has been moved to World War II Victory Day on May 9th. I was following a link posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/gunculture2point0.wordpress.com\/2015\/04\/29\/sisters-go-the-extra-mile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. David Yamane at his Gun Culture 2.0 blog about Jennifer Dawn Carlson&#8217;s <\/a>article in the Wall Street Journal. <a href=\"http:\/\/jdawncarlson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carlson <\/a>is a sociologist at the University of Toronto who has written a well received<a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/citizen-protectors-9780199347551;jsessionid=FAE34C3D5C500472C5FDB65E93A471B5?cc=us&amp;lang=en&amp;#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> new book<\/a> on those who carry, open and concealed, entitled <i><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1EA7gqe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Citizen-Protectors: The Everyday Politics of Guns in an Age of Decline<\/a><\/i>. This, in turn, led me to the location of one of her recent talks about her research.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/BerkeleyRightWingStudies.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/BerkeleyRightWingStudies.jpg\" height=\"381\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>\nHow appropriate that one of the universities most associated with the left-wing has <a href=\"http:\/\/crws.berkeley.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a research institute dedicated to the study of &#8220;the right-wing&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i>The mission of the Center, which is housed at the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues (ISSI), is twofold: first, to identify right-wing movements, flesh out their twentieth-century histories (how they aligned and how they survived) while isolating their novel aspects in the 21st century; and second, to develop and apply principles of how right-wing thought, ideology and organizational capacities operate to understand the state of the contemporary Right and identify its likely directions and successes.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Their research collection includes files on the NRA, the Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Sisters. This is in addition to those other notorious right-wingers such as Cowboys for Christ, the PTL Club, and the Cato Institute.
