Thom Tillis (R-NC) has been equivocating on red flag laws in his letters to constituents (like me!). Tillis is also a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee which is holding hearings on red flag laws. Now is the time to send Thom a message regarding red flag law. Grass Roots North Carolina is asking for people to give his office a call this morning to let him know this ain&#8217;t OK.<\/p>\n<p>Tillis, by the way, is up for reelection in 2020 so he is in that part of his term where he needs to play politician 100% of the time. Tillis has telegraphed his support<br \/>\nfor &#8220;Extreme Risk Protection Orders&#8221; (or &#8220;Red Flag&#8221; laws) by<br \/>\nsupporting <a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/51015862:Wp3wVeINe:m:1:345463350:1851CF2D1E33B6B9CC55F6A2CABEC1E7:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S. 7<\/a>. <u><strong>This<br \/>\n bill would allow<br \/>\nthe word of an accuser, voicing \u201cconcerns,\u201d to strip a citizen of<br \/>\nseveral of the Constitutional protections guaranteed by the Bill of<br \/>\nRights\u2014without due process<\/strong><\/u>. Yet, in Senator Tillis\u2019 recent<br \/>\ncorrespondence with concerned constituents, he did not address any<br \/>\nof the glaring and very serious problems with S. 7. Telling the &#8220;whole&#8221;<br \/>\ntruth is to tell the truth. Omitting critical details on such an<br \/>\nimportant matter is, well&#8230; something else.
