Florida has state preemption on firearms issues but many municipalities and other governmental units want to go their own way. This would include the University of Florida in Gainesville. As a result, Florida Carry is suing them in state court. Unfortunately, a circuit court judge (and loyal alumnus) ignored a higher court ruling and granted summary judgment to the University of Florida. In December Florida<br \/>\nCarry won a similar case against the University of North Florida (UNF).<br \/>\n In <a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001mzksE2KU6nCBmJjQWm6vJlcKh1LGcAT92eCK7EsrQPEmms-EPKF5aiBfAfUApFEN2sDvNvVKgLILEAqv2YBsw-n43GK-59NqlNhU_bZhE2d3y0JlxR4XrLXWERvHGgOTOGvRXRsJ_EHNOjTDw770XGB2_yTejGvhfkzCYJtfBzof58DKflvOUR7vNM33J2NM7QFddcaCUm50pnPwILBoTkk52_BhVfTY66_51Mv1uqDiJVnazK1T-W3MNJn-9xRHIyeWWVhM4YxqngS-wPOha7j4gq9AV0UlD8DhfI63WmDtidkjwo1hjhruW1Cow0SJ&amp;c=&amp;ch=\" shape=\"rect\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida Carry v. UNF<\/a><br \/>\n the First District Court of Appeal ruled that &#8220;The legislature&#8217;s<br \/>\nprimacy in firearms regulation derives directly from the Florida<br \/>\nConstitution&#8230; Indeed, the legislature has reserved for itself the<br \/>\nwhole field of firearms regulation in section 790.33(1)&#8230;&#8221;  No public<br \/>\ncollege or university has any authority to prevent students and the<br \/>\npublic from having a functional firearm in places that are<br \/>\nconstitutionally protected or permitted under state law.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"https:\/\/www.floridacarry.org\/images\/fc-v-uf.png\" vspace=\"5\" width=\"376\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>The<br \/>\n University of Florida has failed to comply with the court&#8217;s ruling by<br \/>\ndoing nothing more than adding an &#8220;Intent&#8221; footnote to only one of its<br \/>\nillegal policies.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008 the United States Supreme Court ruled<br \/>\nthat the right to keeps arms in the home is at the very core of the<br \/>\nSecond Amendment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today, (Wednesday July 30th, 2014) Circuit Court Judge Toby S. Monaco <a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001mzksE2KU6nCBmJjQWm6vJlcKh1LGcAT92eCK7EsrQPEmms-EPKF5aiBfAfUApFENHMcoLypWzKdSGw_TUB_pk0ZD66gSsgcQYg2KhxVQheUSCcyO45vqnJxRzxG8fkRpBBGCr-9CseL8v8ZPNHL006QJUMUMGpwq7jgALDy8mcUUm9uQMH7_wZH3qErU4oUxVOwjOUbrN8SqdsD2sJSbnrddqocBQG577Q3FD-K5bm0dLLZFeHebNTGF30SvFDxW&amp;c=&amp;ch=\" shape=\"rect\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">granted motions to dismiss and for summary judgement<\/a> in favor of his alma mater and granted sovereign immunity to UF President Manchen.<\/strong><br \/>\n The lower court Judge ignored the plain language of multiple Florida<br \/>\nfirearms laws, multiple binding court cases from Florida and the US<br \/>\nSupreme Court, turned to blind eye to university policies that are<br \/>\npromulgated in continued violation, and refused to conduct any analysis<br \/>\nof the right to keep and bear arms.  <\/p>\n<p>This is the same failure to<br \/>\n follow the law and protect the fundamental right to keep and bear arms<br \/>\nthat we saw from another lower court in our case against the University<br \/>\nof North Florida.  Prior to winning the landmark Florida Carry v.
