Federal law requires a license to deal in firearms. Federal law also requires both a license and permits to import firearms into the United States. Leland Yee was arrested and indicted on charges that he conspired to violate both these Federal laws. Therefore, we need an executive order banning the import of &#8220;lethal assault weapons&#8221; so says Yee&#8217;s Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.guns.com\/2014\/04\/05\/rep-calls-president-ban-assault-weapon-imports-due-yee-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">From an email response Speier sent to Guns.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i>\u201cThis FBI investigation of Leland Yee reveals how easy it is to import lethal assault weapons that were previously banned,\u201d said Speier in an emailed statement from the Representative\u2019s office to Guns.com.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case should be a warning to us all that even the most trusted appearing among us are ready to do real harm,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Her solution to fix future instances of potential gun running such as in the Yee case?
