the time to act is now if we are going to stop any new gun control bills, Paul Valone of Grass Roots North Carolina <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grnc.org\/index.php\/grnc-alerts-archive\/373-grnc-alert-12-18-12-feinstein-wants-your-guns-the-battle-is-on\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent out this alert<\/a> last night. It says we need to meet the threat head-on. It proposes a three-prong approach consisting of contacting NC&#8217;s Congressional delegation, conducting public education, and reframing the debate.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.grnc.org\/index.php\/grnc-alerts-archive\/372-grnc-alert-12-15-2012-newtown-victims-of-gun-free-school-zones-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Earlier alerts<\/a> this week have discussed the ineffectiveness of the Gun-Free School Zone Act.<\/p>\n<p>The alert also gives contact information including phone numbers for the newly elected members of the North Carolina delegation. Given that they took a strongly pro-gun rights stance, it is important to remind them of that.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">As we predicted, <span _mce_style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>the battle is on<\/strong><\/span>.<br \/>\n Dancing in the blood of innocents slaughtered by the federal \u201cGun Free\u201d<br \/>\n School Zones Act, Senator Diane Feinstein finally admitted to \u201cMeet the<br \/>\n Press\u201d that<a _mce_href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/10683384:14041247484:m:1:345466612:AA00B7468BF7EE3C5938DD53DA4D7569:r\" href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/10683384:14041247484:m:1:345466612:AA00B7468BF7EE3C5938DD53DA4D7569:r\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span _mce_style=\"color: #0066cc;\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><strong><span _mce_style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">she will offer a ban on semi-automatic firearms on \u201cthe first day\u201d of the new Congress<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span _mce_style=\"color: #0066cc;\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\">.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201c<em>I\u2019m going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House \u2014 a bill to ban assault weapons.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201c<em>It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession, not retroactively, but prospectively.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201c<em>The purpose of this bill is to get\u2026 weapons of war off the streets.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">\u201c<em>Who<br \/>\n needs these military-style assault weapons? Who needs an ammunition<br \/>\nfeeding device capable of holding 100 rounds?\u201d Feinstein wrote on her<br \/>\ncampaign website.<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><em>These weapons are not for hunting deer \u2014 they\u2019re for hunting people.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Moreover, <a _mce_href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/10683385:14041247484:m:1:345466612:AA00B7468BF7EE3C5938DD53DA4D7569:r\" href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/10683385:14041247484:m:1:345466612:AA00B7468BF7EE3C5938DD53DA4D7569:r\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><span _mce_style=\"color: #0066cc;\" style=\"color: #0066cc;\"><strong><span _mce_style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Barack Obama<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a> has finally come \u201cout of the closet\u201d on gun control. Says the White House press secretary:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><em>&#8220;He<br \/>\n is actively supportive of \u2026 Sen. [Dianne] Feinstein\u2019s stated intent to<br \/>\nrevive a piece of legislation that would reinstate the assault weapons<br \/>\nban.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\"><strong>Meeting the threat<\/strong><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span _mce_style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: medium;\" style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small;\">As we have noted before, <span _mce_style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>GRNC is reorienting its resources to meet federal threats<\/strong><\/span>.
