As I write at approximately 12pm EST, all major stock market averages &#8211; the Dow, S&amp;P 500, and the NASDAQ &#8211; are down approximately 2.3%. Part of it is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2012\/11\/07\/us-markets-global-idUSBRE88901C20121107\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news from Europe<\/a> that a recession there is all but a certainty and part is the election results along with the &#8220;fiscal cliff&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equities.com\/news\/headline-story?dt=2012-11-07&amp;val=679989&amp;cat=energy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coal stocks<\/a>, as might be expected given Obama&#8217;s jihad against coal, are down even more.<\/p>\n<p>But guess what two companies are seeing strong increases in their stock prices.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right &#8211; Ruger and Smith &amp; Wesson. Currently, Ruger (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/finance?q=NYSE%3ARGR&amp;ei=qZKaUNizAeqt0AG6Tw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RGR<\/a>)&nbsp;is up $2.40 or a 5.38% increase while Smith &amp; Wesson (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/finance?q=NASDAQ%3ASWHC&amp;ei=QZSaULj1NOXk0QGY3AE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SWHC<\/a>) is up 77 cents or an 8.14% increase over yesterday. Both of these are pure plays on the firearms market. <\/p>\n<p>The ammo makers Olin (Winchester) and ATK (Federal) are down. However, they have other businesses besides just ammunition production. ATK, in addition to making ammunition, is a significant defense contractor while Olin is a big producer of chlor-alkali.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2012-11-07\/smith-wesson-gunmakers-rally-after-obama-re-elected.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg TV has noticed<\/a> just how well gun makers&#8217;s stock is doing today as well. <\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The stock market is seeing an across the board sell-off today.
