The Board of Commissioners adopted their sanctuary resolution unanimously. <a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2020\/01\/09\/2a-sanctuary-movement-comes-to-nc.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">They join<\/a> Cherokee, Rutherford, Lincoln, Surry, and Wilkes Counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Salisbury Post:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In a unanimous vote on Friday, Rowan became the latest North Carolina county to pass a measure referred to as a \u201cSecond Amendment sanctuary\u201d resolution. Already, county commissioners in Lincoln, Surry and Wilkes counties have passed similar resolutions. Nearby Davidson, Iredell, Randolph and Alexander counties are considering doing the same, according to media reports.<\/p><p>Rowan\u2019s resolution was brought up for consideration just before commissioners adjourned a planning retreat. It stated, in part,\u00a0the right of individuals \u201cto keep and bear arms is under attack\u201d in the United States, that the illegal misuse of firearms is not a reason to infringe upon the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens and that Rowan County commissioners are opposed to any law, regulation or other act that would unconstitutionally infringe on Second Amendment rights. It also contained language from the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Article 1, Section 30 of the N.C. Constitution.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Commission Chairman Greg Edds said it wasn&#8217;t a hard decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> \u201cWe are for the lawful use of firearms and do not in any way defend unlawful use,\u201d Edds said before the vote. \u201cThis is an easy thing for us. Rowan County wants to be a community that values our right to self-defense.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>According to news reports, this is the second time the Rowan County Board of Commissiorers had adopted a resolution in support of the Second Amendment. They had passed one in 2013 in response to then-President Obama&#8217;s push for gun control after the Newtown murders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/1280182532369622\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Facebook page<\/a> called &#8220;Make Rowan County A 2nd Amendment Sanctuary&#8221; was started on this past Wednesday and already has 5,700 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/156256191072253\/photos\/a.159389934092212\/2944163568948154\/?type=3&amp;theater\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBTV posted a photo of the resolution<\/a> that passed to Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"657\" height=\"697\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/81960814_2944163575614820_304842025457418240_n.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29871\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/81960814_2944163575614820_304842025457418240_n.png 657w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/81960814_2944163575614820_304842025457418240_n-283x300.png 283w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Given that all the counties that have passed a Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution are either in western North Carolina or the western part of the Piedmont, I&#8217;d say it is time for eastern North Carolina to get in gear!<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rowan County, North Carolina became the sixth Second Amendment Sanctuary in the state on Friday.
