Ladd Everitt was the communications director for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (sic), it was a favorite tactic to characterize Second Amendment supporters as <a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2011\/06\/03\/csgv-and-neo-mccarthyis.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">&#8220;gun extremists&#8221;<\/a>. CSGV&#8217;s Executive Director Josh Horwitz took it a step further by calling <a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2015\/03\/12\/insurrectionism-csgv-answer-for.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">those who opposed the Obama Administration<\/a>&#8216;s efforts &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2015\/09\/17\/thats-senator-insurrectionist-thug-to.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\">insurrectionists<\/a>&#8220;. I was one of those called a &#8220;gun extremist&#8221; when I challenged the sainted Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) over some of her comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/momsdemandaction.org\/heres-what-you-should-know-about-the-gun-extremist-rally-in-virginia-on-january-20th\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In a news release<\/a> about the VCDL&#8217;s Lobby Day next Monday, Moms Demand Action channels CSGV and calls it a &#8220;gun extremist rally&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> On January 20<sup>th<\/sup>, gun extremists \u2013 including out-of-state  militia groups \u2013 will descend on the Virginia General Assembly, hoping  to intimidate lawmakers into rejecting the democratic will of the people  who, by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/9ikqsc\/x90z7hb\/9qya8i\" target=\"_blank\">wide margins<\/a>, want (and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/9ikqsc\/x90z7hb\/pjza8i\" target=\"_blank\">voted for champions of<\/a>) common-sense gun safety laws.  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Democrats won control due to court-ordered redistricting. The plan was devised by California-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyprogress.com\/news\/state\/familiar-expert-named-to-redraw-state-s-house-districts\/article_47f66e58-d342-11e8-87df-1f3f17467112.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special master Bernard Grofman<\/a> of U. California &#8211; Irvine and intended to be most <a href=\"https:\/\/muskegonpundit.blogspot.com\/2020\/01\/the-un-elected-californian-who.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">favorable <\/a>to Democrats. It was approved in a 2-1 decision with Obama-appointed Judges Barbara Keenan and Arenda Allen in the majority. Republicans who opposed the new districts called it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.richmond.com\/news\/local\/government-politics\/federal-court-picks-redrawn-va-house-map-that-boosts-democrats\/article_6b727239-4d46-592d-99c7-f2b544c5e045.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;legal indefensible&#8221;<\/a> because it was so slanted towards the Democrats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They portray Second Amendment Sanctuary resolutions as &#8220;lawless county resolutions&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> Lawless County resolutions, or as gun extremists call them, \u2018Second  Amendment Sanctuary\u2019 resolutions, which threaten that officials will\u00a0  disregard their duty to enforce duly enacted and constitutional laws,  have <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/9ikqsc\/x90z7hb\/hp2a8i\" target=\"_blank\">no legal force<\/a>.  The resolutions also threaten the safety of communities nationwide by  fostering distrust in law enforcement and may deter people from  reporting individuals that may hurt themselves or others. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Since when did promoting respect for God-given, Constitutionally-protected rights become a threat to the safety of communities? That is the kind of argument one would have expected from racial segregationists who opposed school integration in the face of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oyez.org\/cases\/1940-1955\/347us483\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Brown v. Board of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29884\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706-940x705.jpeg 940w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_4706.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Overflow crowd at the Amelia County hearing<br><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The news release continues and throws in &#8220;militia&#8221;, &#8220;white supremacist&#8221;, &#8220;Charlottesville&#8221;, and &#8220;Civil War&#8221; for good measure. I&#8217;m surprised they didn&#8217;t include &#8220;Boogaloo&#8221; as well. Remembering that Everytown and Moms Demand have the best PR flacks that money can buy, it is obvious that they want to scare both African-Americans and suburban &#8220;soccer moms&#8221; with this rhetoric. This is the sort of thing that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanpartisan.org\/2020\/01\/richmond-the-mother-of-all-buffalo-jumps\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt Bracken warned about in his comments on Lobby Day<\/a> characterizing it as a Charlottesville-style setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They end this screed with a few words about their ultimate boogeyman &#8211; the NRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p> <strong>The NRA has yet to make any public statement disavowing the January 20<sup>th<\/sup> event or the various militia groups planning on attending. However, the NRA\u2019s people and rhetoric are intertwined with the January 20<sup>th<\/sup> rally.<\/strong> The NRA put out a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/9ikqsc\/x90z7hb\/l87a8i\" target=\"_blank\">formal statement<\/a>  supporting the Lawless County resolutions, and former NRA TV  personalities like Cam Edwards and Antonia Okafor are listed as speakers  at the rally. The NRA has taken out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/9ikqsc\/x90z7hb\/108a8i\" target=\"_blank\">billboards<\/a> throughout Virginia ominously and baselessly warning of coming \u201cconfiscation\u201d of firearms. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While the NRA hasn&#8217;t &#8220;disavowed&#8221; the VCDL&#8217;s Lobby Day, they haven&#8217;t supported it either. Instead, they came up with their own rally being held today. As to &#8220;baselessly warning&#8221; about confiscation, a magazine ban without grandfathering certainly meets the standard for confiscation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know the Demanding Moms don&#8217;t respect the Second Amendment. It is increasingly clear that they don&#8217;t support the First Amendment rights of their opponents.
