Obviously, there is no equivalent of our Second Amendment in it. Interestingly, there is no protection for property of any sort within it unlike our Fifth Amendment. <a href=\"file:\/\/\/D:\/23-Article%20Text-23-1-10-20150922.pdf\" class=\"rank-math-link\"><strong>Some <\/strong><\/a>Canadian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/3229531?seq=1\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>scholars <\/strong><\/a>have written that this was purposely omitted as it was seen as a restriction on government. Indeed the first article of the Charter expressly states the rights guaranteed within it were &#8220;subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not a Canadian legal expert but that sure as heck sounds like the whole Charter is founded upon the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.subscriptlaw.com\/blog\/levels-of-scrutiny\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>rational basis level of scrutiny<\/strong><\/a>. Given that, it is no wonder Prime Minister Justin Trudeau <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsweek.com\/en\/current\/articles\/canada-bans-modern-sporting-rifles-order-council\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>thought <\/strong><\/a>a mere <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/6880974-Canada-Gazette-May-1-2020-Part-II.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Order in Council<\/strong><\/a> was sufficient to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/politics\/trudeau-gun-control-measures-ban-1.5552131\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ban over 1,500 firearms from ownership<\/strong><\/a>. In his mind, there was no need to bring it to Parliament and have a debate on the ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/petitions.ourcommons.ca\/en\/Petition\/Details?Petition=e-2341&amp;fbclid=IwAR0l8ZxegB_17k0CKviRlW61vaWyAMyat5aRpPi_rw9yvJx68wiaKHqf_H4\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>petition<\/strong> <\/a>demanding that the matter be brought to the House of Commons for debate. It has over 175,000 signatures currently. It has been presented to Parliament by <a href=\"https:\/\/glenmotzmp.com\/about\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>MP Glen Motz<\/strong><\/a> who represents the Medicine Hat area of Alberta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps it is time to stop being so polite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"498\" height=\"317\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Canada-DTOM-Flag.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Canada-DTOM-Flag.jpg 498w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Canada-DTOM-Flag-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it is time to tell Trudeau and his <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pm.gc.ca\/en\/cabinet\/honourable-bill-blair\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cop to politician<\/a> <\/strong>Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair to stick it where the sun doesn&#8217;t shine.
