Here is what it <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/joebiden.com\/gunsafety\/\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says on his campaign website<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.\u00a0<\/strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fws.gov\/le\/hunter-responsibility.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Federal law<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0prevents hunters from hunting migratory game birds with more than three shells in their shotgun. That means our federal law does more to protect ducks than children. It\u2019s wrong. Joe Biden will enact legislation to once again ban assault weapons. This time, the bans will be designed based on lessons learned from the 1994 bans. For example, the ban on assault weapons will be designed to prevent manufacturers from circumventing the law by making minor changes that don\u2019t limit the weapon\u2019s lethality. While working to pass this legislation, Biden will also use his\u00a0<\/strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.atf.gov\/resource-center\/docs\/january-2011-importability-certain-shotgunspdf\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>executive authority<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0to ban the importation of assault weapons.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act.<\/strong>\u00a0Currently, the National Firearms Act requires individuals possessing machine-guns, silencers, and short-barreled rifles to undergo a background check and register those weapons with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Due to these requirements, such weapons are\u00a0<strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/giffords.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Giffords_GLC_assault-weapons_NFA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rarely<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>used in crimes. As president, Biden will pursue legislation to\u00a0<strong><a class=\"rank-math-link\" href=\"https:\/\/giffords.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Giffords_GLC_assault-weapons_NFA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regulate possession of existing assault weapons\u00a0under the N<\/a>ational<\/strong> Firearms Act.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Buy back the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines already in our communities.<\/strong>\u00a0Biden will also institute a program to buy back weapons of war currently on our streets.
