He is now the Senior Advisor for Research and Statistics. Unfortunately, as Dr. Lott noted to me when I congratulated him on the new position, it is a political appointment which will end when President Trump leaves office in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/controversial-gun-advocate-hired-justice-110155673.html\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>According to an article posted this morning in Yahoo News<\/strong><\/a>, Dr. Lott will be working in the Office of Justice Programs which is responsible for administering $5 billion annually in grants to states, police departments, and non-profits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article there is a repost from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/11\/24\/controversial-gun-advocate-justice-department-440251\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Politico<\/strong><\/a>. The headline referred to him as &#8220;controversial gun advocate&#8221;.
