A vote in the NC House is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, I fully expect Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) to veto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncleg.gov\/Sessions\/2021\/Bills\/House\/PDF\/H398v2.pdf\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>H398<\/strong><\/a> if it passes the North Carolina General Assembly. An override will depend upon whether Democrats want to defend a racist, Jim Crow-era law that has been shown still to discriminate against African-Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Grass Roots North Carolina says in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grnc.org\/defend-your-rights\/about-as\/recent-grnc-alerts\/1271-grnc-alert-4-28-21-act-now-to-support-purchase-permit-repeal\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>alert<\/strong><\/a>, now is the time to put on and keep up the pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Call your own representative, Democrat or Republican, and demand they pass this bill. If you don&#8217;t know who your representative is, use this <a href=\"https:\/\/ncleg.gov\/FindYourLegislators\" class=\"rank-math-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>tool<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Email every House Republican. Their email addresses are in the alert. You may need to copy the email addresses into your word processor and convert the &#8220;;&#8221; into a &#8220;,&#8221; depending upon your email program. I&#8217;d also suggest pasting them in as a BCC. Two minutes of copy and paste is all it takes.
