Bruen oral arguments, NYPD started looking for 73 part-time investigators whose job would include processing gun license applications: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8fkOneFt8U\">https:\/\/t.co\/8fkOneFt8U<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qIkrLH8Nll\">pic.twitter.com\/qIkrLH8Nll<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Rob Romano (@2Aupdates) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/2Aupdates\/status\/1491457924061081600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 9, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/a127-jobs.nyc.gov\/psc\/nycjobs\/EMPLOYEE\/HRMS\/c\/HRS_HRAM_FL.HRS_CG_SEARCH_FL.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_JBPST_FL&amp;Action=U&amp;FOCUS=Applicant&amp;SiteId=1&amp;JobOpeningId=501625&amp;PostingSeq=1&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">job duties<\/a><\/strong> the NYPD has for these new hires is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Conducting interviews and investigations of candidates applying for handgun licenses; <strong>process various applications for carrying handguns<\/strong>; determine and ensure applicant meets requirements for license requested; fingerprint applicant using LIVESCAN system; research various databases and contact references to substantiate information submitted by applicant; and notify applicant of approval or appeal process for denial of handgun permit.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While you can never predict what the Supreme Court will do, it seems to me that the NYPD is signaling that they expect the court to rule against New York in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/search.aspx?filename=\/docket\/docketfiles\/html\/public\/20-843.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NYSRPA v. Bruen<\/a><\/strong>.
