I <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2022\/04\/12\/no-permitless-carry-for-nebraska.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted yesterday<\/a><\/strong>, supporters of permitless carry in Nebraska failed to get enough votes to invoke cloture on the filibuster of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nebraskalegislature.gov\/bills\/view_bill.php?DocumentID=47134\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LB 773<\/a><\/strong>. The bill would have made Nebraska the 26th state with unrestricted or permitless carry. Gov. Pete Ricketts (R-NE) had said he would sign the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Nebraska Legislature is officially non-partisan, the senators have political affiliations and are supported by the political parties when they run for office. The website <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Nebraska_State_Senate_(Unicameral)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ballotpedia <\/a><\/strong>did the research and has the political affiliation of each senator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I noted yesterday, two more votes in favor of cloture were needed. I thought it would be interesting to look at who voted against the bill and, more importantly, those that voted &#8220;present &#8211; not voting&#8221;. This latter wanted to eat their cake and have it too. While they can say they didn&#8217;t vote against the bill, they still condemned it to defeat by not voting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Voting Nay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.legislature.ne.gov\/dist29\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Eliot Bostar<\/a><\/strong> (Dem &#8211; Dist 29)<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.legislature.ne.gov\/dist09\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. John Cavanaugh<\/a><\/strong> (Dem &#8211; Dist 9)<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.legislature.ne.gov\/dist06\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh<\/a><\/strong> (Dem &#8211; Dist 6)<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.legislature.ne.gov\/dist49\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sen.
