It is now being reported that HR 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021, and HR 2814, Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act of 2022, will considered today. The latter bill is the repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My feeling is that Pelosi was pissed off that the Senate Republicans stalled passage of the PACT Act and this is retribution. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/28\/veterans-toxic-exposure-bill-senate-vote-fails\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">problem for Republicans with the PACT Act<\/a><\/strong>, as I understand it, was not with the intent of the bill but the funding. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/punchbowl.news\/archive\/7-28-22-punchbowl-news-am\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Punchbowl News puts it<\/a><\/strong> that it was a move by Republicans in response to the Manchin-Schumer agreement on &#8220;build back better&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF sent this out by email:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CRITICAL ALERT REMINDER: \u2018ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN\u2019 VOTE TODAY<br>These Bills Could Be Voted on Today!<br><em>Contact Your U.S. Representative This Morning At (202) 224 3121!&nbsp;<\/em><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Anti gun leaders in the House called an emergency meeting last night to employ a seldom used tactic that would expedite consideration of both the so-called &#8220;Assault Weapons&#8221; ban, and the bill to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Both bills could be voted on by the full House of Representatives&nbsp;<u>today!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is unclear if Speaker Pelosi has the votes needed to pass the bills at this moment, so it is critical that you call your U.S. Representative TODAY and urge a \u201cNO\u201d vote on H.R. 1808, the so-called \u201cAssault Weapons Ban\u201d of 2022, and H.R. 2814, the so-called \u201cEqual Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Firearms Policy Coalition was likewise warning about this last evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Here\u2019s Pelosi, confirming that they will vote on assault weapons ban today. <br><br>There\u2019s a multi-step process here.
