As drafted,\u00a0this legislation would have\u00a0removed\u00a0unnecessary government permission slips to\u00a0exercise your Second Amendment rights.\u00a0\u200b<strong>Unfortunately, the bill was amended in committee\u00a0to\u00a0include a\u00a0mandatory training and education requirement; as a\u00a0result,\u00a0the bill was no longer constitutional carry.<\/strong><\/p><p>The bill title\u00a0was changed to\u00a0&#8220;Freedom to Carry Act,&#8221; but with the legislation facing other\u00a0concerns, it was taken off of the floor calendar, and failed\u00a0to meet the crossover deadline to pass the House of Representatives.\u200b<\/p><p><strong>Your NRA-ILA will\u00a0continue\u00a0to make it our mission for\u00a0North Carolina to become\u00a0a constitutional carry state, and bury any attempts to\u00a0compromise on the issue.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve read my <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2023\/05\/04\/nra-may-have-killed-permitless-carry-in-nc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earlier<\/a><\/strong> posts, you know where I stand on this. I also find it ironic that the NRA says they will not &#8220;compromise&#8221; given their history of doing just that. Whoever wrote the above ought to ask Wayne about his compromise on 1986&#8217;s Firearm Owners Protection Act which may just have helped enrich his BFF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liberty Doll has a different take on it. Her videos have just that right amount of sarcasm mixed with cute rockabilly chick libertarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LtHLoeDzvNw\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>With Liberty Doll&#8217;s 263,000 followers on YouTube, I would wager she is much more effective in getting her (and gun rights activists in North Carolina&#8217;s) side of the story out than the NRA-ILA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sad thing in all of this is that the NRA could have been involved from the start and the bill could have passed the NC House. That would have involved working with GRNC and GOA cooperatively and openly in a joint effort to get the bill passed. As it is, the NRA was largely absent. They have one ILA lobbyist, D. J. Spiker, who has to cover North and South Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia.
