It arrived while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2023\/06\/30\/nras-attempt-to-intervene-denied.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I was still writing my last post.<\/a><\/strong> It observed that given Judge Boyle&#8217;s denial of intervenor status for the NRA and its members, NRA members can join SAF and get protected by the preliminary injunction like the rest of SAF&#8217;s members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>BELLEVUE, WA \u2013 The federal judge presiding over a Second Amendment Foundation challenge to the Biden administration\u2019s new arm brace rule has denied a request by the National Rifle Association to intervene in an effort to get the same protections for its members as SAF members have been granted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>However, the order\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/scl\/fi\/1jbmlbihqaq57r79y2ef3\/2023-06-30-Doc.-85-Order-on-Intervention.pdf?dl=0&amp;rlkey=hs4e9ldkuie4on4kf74otriv1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">denying NRA\u2019s intervention<\/a>\u00a0does not mean NRA members are out of luck, said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. They can join SAF and be covered under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saf.org\/saf-membership-surges-after-judge-clarifies-scope-of-arm-brace-injunction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">judge\u2019s ruling<\/a>\u00a0issued last month. The case is known as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Preliminary-Injunction.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAF, et.al. v. ATF, et. al<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhile we\u2019re certain NRA members are disappointed,\u201d Gottlieb said, \u201cby joining SAF they can get the protection of the judge\u2019s ruling.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SAF offers several different tiers of memberships, available at\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saf.org\/join-saf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.saf.org\/join-saf\/<\/a><\/strong>. Annual membership is $15, a five-year membership is $50 and a life membership is $150. Membership is effective upon date of receipt. Boyle wrote, \u201cFor intervention as of right, the NRA\u2019s motion fails on two independent grounds. First, the Court finds the NRA\u2019s application for intervention is not timely. Second, the Court finds the NRA\u2019s interests are adequately represented by the current Plaintiffs\u2026In sum, the NRA knew of the Rule more than a year before it moved to intervene, and the NRA had no basis to assume a nationwide injunction would be issued in this case. Moreover, allowing an intervention under these circumstances risks incentivizing opportunistic \u201cinjunction shopping\u201d under the auspices of \u201ctimely\u201d interventions to protect a threatened interest. The NRA\u2019s Motion is not timely.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SAF is joined in the case by Rainier Arms, LLC and two private citizens, Samuel Walley and William Green.
