National Rifle Association <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.txnd.378632\/gov.uscourts.txnd.378632.1.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed their own challenge to the BATFE pistol brace ban<\/a><\/strong> yesterday. This was after their attempt to intervene in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2023\/06\/30\/nras-attempt-to-intervene-denied.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAF et al v. BATFE<\/a><\/strong> was denied as not timely among other reasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NRA has and has had many excellent Second Amendment attorneys at their disposal. These include scholars such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stephenhalbrook.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephen Halbrook<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/davekopel.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Kopel<\/a><\/strong>, appellate attorneys such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clementmurphy.com\/who-we-are\/paul-clement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paul Clement and Erin Murphy<\/a><\/strong>, and others such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/michellawyers.com\/attorney-profile\/c-d-michel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chuck Michel<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/david-jensen-83756410\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Jensen<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hartmanwinnicki.com\/attorneys\/daniel-schmutter-esq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dan Schmutter<\/a><\/strong>. In the past I would have also included the attorneys from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperkirk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cooper and Kirk<\/a><\/strong> but they were <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/08\/22\/us\/politics\/nra-guns-wayne-lapierre.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">considered &#8220;disloyal&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> by Wayne and Company and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2019\/08\/25\/more-on-the-purges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">purged<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So who did they choose to handle their own challenge to the BATFE pistol brace ban? It had to be someone other than the attorney who just lost their motion to intervene, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, they went with William Brewer III again. Instead of going with a strong 2A attorney, they went with the attorney whose primary purpose <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/nra-chief-lapierre-feared-going-to-jail-former-confidant-testifies-11618620570?st=1gi2lcforc3mibf&amp;reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seems to be to keep Wayne out of jail<\/a><\/strong> while <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/cafe\/nra-financial-recovery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">getting as rich<\/a><\/strong> as possible in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why I don&#8217;t know and no one is saying. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WillesLee\/status\/1676023406330798081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Even former 1st VP Willes Lee<\/a><\/strong> who has gone from stalwart Friend of Wayne to outspoken critic of the old guard is asking why. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brewer seems to have the same insidious influence on Wayne and the Board as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thesalt\/2017\/01\/31\/510802220\/fact-or-fiction-even-when-it-comes-to-food-its-hard-to-tell-with-rasputin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rasputin <\/a><\/strong>did on Nicholas II and Alexandra. We all know <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Russian_Revolution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how that ended<\/a><\/strong> for the Romanov Dynasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NRA needs to declare its independence from Bill Brewer before he does any more damage to the organization &#8211; and the Second Amendment.
