It was thought the trial would have started in mid-October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a comment by Frank Tait, it is thought the reason for the delay is the withdrawal of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.akingump.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Akin Gump Strauss Hauer &amp; Feld LLP<\/a><\/strong> as counsel for Josh Powell. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2023\/07\/31\/nra-still-wants-a-jury-trial-in-manhattan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">As I noted earlier<\/a><\/strong>, they had a parting of the ways over Powell&#8217;s ability to pay his legal bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One must wonder if this case will ever get to the trial stage. The case is now officially 3 years and 3 days old. I think the only people who are happy about this are the attorneys for the defendants as it gives them even more time to run up their bills with more useless filings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> Stephen Gutowski of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thereload.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Reload<\/a><\/strong> is reporting that Josh Powell intends to represent himself at the trial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The NRA&#39;s corruption trial in New York has been delayed until at least January. The lawyer for Josh Powell, Wayne LaPierre&#39;s former Chief of Staff, has withdrawn from the case.
