Given jury selection started on Tuesday, January 2nd, I take it that neither Powell nor an attorney representing him showed up for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may remember that his prior attorneys, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.akingump.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akin Gump<\/a><\/strong>, dropped him for what appeared to be a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2023\/07\/31\/nra-still-wants-a-jury-trial-in-manhattan.html\">failure to pay his legal bills<\/a><\/strong>. Indications at that time were that Powell was then going to act <em>pro se<\/em> or as his own attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now I have to wonder if he will just default by not showing up for the trial. It would be foolish to do so especially if he had been<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2024\/01\/02\/ny-times-on-nra-trial.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/2024\/01\/02\/ny-times-on-nra-trial.html\"> trying to cut a deal<\/a><\/strong> with the New York Attorney General&#8217;s Office.
