VanDerStok<\/a><\/strong> today. It was one of two cases granted certiorari in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/orders\/courtorders\/042224zor_i42k.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Order List released this morning<\/a><\/strong>. The case was a challenge to the ATF&#8217;s &#8220;frames and receivers&#8221; rule published in 2022. The Second Amendment Foundation as an intervenor had <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/saf.org\/saf-cheers-5th-circuit-victory-in-vanderstok-frame-receiver-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won the case in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals<\/a><\/strong> and the Justice Department <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/23\/23-852\/299970\/20240207114349501_VanDerStok%20Petition%20v.2.6%201%20pm.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appealed <\/a><\/strong>their loss to the Supreme Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Lauren Hill of SAF noted to me in an email this morning, this will mark the second time SAF will argue a case in the Supreme Court following their win the McDonald v. City of Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were only two amicus briefs filed in this case before it was granted certiorari. Both were in favor of the Supreme Court taking the case. One was filed by a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/23\/23-852\/302544\/20240307151530521_23-852acBriefOfTheDistrictOfColumbia.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">number of anti-gun attorney generals<\/a><\/strong>. Sadly, this included Josh Stein, AG of North Carolina, who is the Democrat nominee for governor. The other amicus brief was by a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/23\/23-852\/302664\/20240308141026107_23-852acGunViolenceProtectionGroups.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coalition of the gun prohibitionist groups<\/a><\/strong> including Everytown, Brady, Giffords, and March for Our Lives.
