According to the legal sophistry of the DOJ lawyers, the BATFE erred when it said bump fire stocks did not violate the National Firearms Act. Thus, if the rule is adopted, bump fire stocks will be treated as machine guns and since they were produced after the Hughes Amendment was enacted they will be destroyed without compensation.<\/p>\n<p>Bump fire stocks are a novelty to me. However, more important is how this ruling could be used to expand restrictions on all semi-automatic firearms, trigger upgrades, and the list goes on. To paraphrase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ushmm.org\/wlc\/en\/article.php?ModuleId=10007392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pastor Martin Niemoller&#8217;s quote about the Nazis,<\/a> &#8220;first they came for the bump fire stocks and I did not speak out because I didn&#8217;t own a bump fire stock&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The corporate gun ban lobby has been active in the last few days trying to solicit their members to submit comments. I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;ll get a lot that will ignore the law and play on emotion. But with <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/48201568:WRBj9yGNH:m:1:1873331637:CA222F96137EC197AEC8DCC76631BC44:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">\u2018Writing It Out\u2019<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">&nbsp;the executive branch all by its<br \/>\nlonesome is going to <strong>magically redefine multiple trigger pulls<\/strong> as one so that they can call a bump-stock equipped semi-auto firearm a<br \/>\n<em>\u2018machine gun\u2019.<\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><br \/>                                                         <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">In the words of the <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/48201569:WRBj9yGNH:m:1:1873331637:CA222F96137EC197AEC8DCC76631BC44:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms,&nbsp;<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/48201569:WRBj9yGNH:m:1:1873331637:CA222F96137EC197AEC8DCC76631BC44:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and Explosives:<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><em>Specifically, these devices <strong>convert an otherwise semiautomatic firearm into<br \/>\na machinegun<\/strong> by functioning as a self-acting or self-regulating mechanism that harnesses the recoil energy of the&nbsp;semiautomatic firearm<br \/>\nin a manner that allows the trigger to reset and continue firing <strong>without additional physical manipulation of the trigger by the<br \/>\nshooter.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><br \/>                                                         <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The trigger still has to be pulled for every shot, but with the word<br \/>\nplay magic, those additional trigger pulls are going to be <em>\u2018written out\u2019<\/em> so with supposedly one trigger pull, you have a<br \/>\n<em>\u2018Machine gun\u2019!<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><br \/>                                                         <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<em><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong>It\u2019s a semi-automatic<br \/>\nmiracle!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><strong> &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><br \/> <br \/>\n     <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">If the<br \/>\n<strong>required trigger pull for every shot has been<\/strong> <em>\u2018written out\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;devices such as Bump-stocks, belt loops, rubber<br \/>\nbands or fingers will have to be banned since these can also turn that which is <em>\u2018semi-automatic\u2019<\/em> into something that is<br \/>\n<em>\u2018automatic\u2019.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">But they can\u2019t very well ban pants, rubber bands or fingers, <strong>so<br \/>\nthey will have to ban semi-automatic firearms instead.<\/strong> <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n&nbsp;
