a body of legal scholarship that recognized the Second Amendment as an individual right was a goal that began over 50 years ago. This is what was known as the Standard Model. Early law review works include<a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1544064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <em><strong>Of Arms and the Law<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Dave Hardy and John Stompoly (1974 &#8211; Chicago-Kent Law Review), <a href=\"https:\/\/heinonline.org\/hol-cgi-bin\/get_pdf.cgi?handle=hein.journals\/mlr82&amp;section=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Handgun prohibition and the original meaning of the Second Amendment<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Don Kates (1983 &#8211; Michigan Law Review), and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/openyls.law.yale.edu\/bitstream\/handle\/20.500.13051\/16657\/32_99YaleLJ637_December1989_.pdf?sequence=2&amp;isAllo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Embarrassing Second Amendment<\/strong><\/a><\/em> by Sanford Levinson (1989 &#8211; Yale Law Journal). Of course there were many more before the landmark <em>DC v. Heller<\/em>. Winners have included papers that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yalelawjournal.org\/note\/the-second-amendment-on-board-public-and-private-historical-traditions-of-firearm-regulation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support bans on carry<\/a><\/strong> on public transport, attempts <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/scholarship.law.duke.edu\/dlj\/vol73\/iss6\/3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to find ways<\/a><\/strong> to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4571295\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pierce the PLCAA<\/a><\/strong>, finding supposed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4919506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">historical precedent for control of gunmaking<\/a><\/strong>, and support for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4996282\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">red flag laws<\/a><\/strong>. The winners have come from prestigious law schools including Stanford, Yale, and Duke among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gun control industry has already captured much of &#8220;Big Law&#8221; and now is trying to do the same with law schools and law students. I have written about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/?p=32694\">such a program at the University of Minnesota Law School<\/a><\/strong> that is working with that state&#8217;s anti-gun <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ag.state.mn.us\/office\/agbio.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Attorney General Keith Ellison<\/a><\/strong> on gun control laws. You have the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/firearmslaw.duke.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Duke Center for Firearms Law<\/a><\/strong> at Duke Law School which is trying to provide the gun control industry with scholarly research to make a case for more regulation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an antidote for this is the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwyo.edu\/law\/centers\/frc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Firearms Research Center at the University of Wyoming College of Law<\/a><\/strong>. The Center is directed by 2A scholar <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwyo.edu\/law\/directory\/george-mocsary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Mocsary<\/a><\/strong>.
