They were offering a &#8220;toolkit&#8221; on advocating for so-called &#8220;safe storage.&#8221; There were some things that just jumped out at me in their email.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"629\" height=\"848\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Fake-Grassroots.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Fake-Grassroots.jpg 629w, https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Fake-Grassroots-223x300.jpg 223w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While I am sure it was unintentional on their part, this email illustrated the stark differences between the Astroturf of the gun control industry and the actual grass roots of the pro-rights movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have shareable social media graphics. We develop our own memes and graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have &#8220;pre-written social media posts&#8221; which I am sure they have run by focus groups. We, by contrast, write our own social media posts including tweets, blogs, and Instagram posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have &#8220;talking points&#8221;. We speak our minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of real-world solutions to protect kids, it is the gun rights movement that does the heavy lifting. Whether it is the NRA&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/eddieeagle.nra.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eddie Eagle<\/a><\/strong> program for children, the NSSF&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/projectchildsafe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Project Childsafe<\/a><\/strong> locks, or an independent group like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kidssafefoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kids S.A.F.E. Foundation<\/a><\/strong>, it is us doing the training and providing the tools. We don&#8217;t have to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/?p=32991\">rebadge <\/a><\/strong>Project Childsafe gun locks like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/?p=32998\">gun control front groups<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the gun control industry were actually serious about providing safe storage they would be pushing for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/taxpolicycenter.org\/briefing-book\/what-are-tax-credits-and-how-do-they-differ-tax-deductions#:~:text=Credits%20reduce%20taxes%20directly%20and,rate%2C%20which%20rises%20with%20income.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax credits<\/a><\/strong> for safes and lockboxes. Moreover, these tax credits for safes and lockboxes would have a fairly high annual cap of say $5,000 with the ability to rollover expenses from one year to the next.
