He wanted it before the 4th of July and he got his wish. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/Votes\/2025190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vote was 218-214<\/a><\/strong> with two Republicans, Tom Massie (R-KY) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), joining all the Democrats in voting against the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/119\/bills\/hr1\/BILLS-119hr1eas.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sec. 70436 of the bill<\/a><\/strong> removed the transfer and making taxes on silencers, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, and any other weapons. The $200 tax is retained for machineguns and other destructive devices. The effective date will be the beginning of calendar quarters 90 days or more after the enactment of the bill. If I am calculating that correctly, then the tax goes to zero on January 1, 2026 given we have already started the 3rd quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once President Trump signs the bill then the real fun begins. The NRA, the American Suppressor Association, the Firearms Policy Coalition, and the Second Amendment Foundation issued a joint statement today stating their intention to sue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Joint-NFA-Letter.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of Joint-NFA-Letter.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-ba8abd57-3fc6-4fe5-8f90-8ee41fc726fe\" href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Joint-NFA-Letter.pdf\">Joint-NFA-Letter<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Joint-NFA-Letter.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-ba8abd57-3fc6-4fe5-8f90-8ee41fc726fe\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/saf.org\/saf-issues-joint-statement-on-nfa-registration-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut<\/a><\/strong> had this to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe NFA is nothing more than a tax scheme which has imposed an unconstitutional burden on Americans since 1934,\u201d said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. \u201cThe registration of these items was only justified as the means to ensure taxes on them had been paid. With the One Big, Beautiful Bill zeroing out the tax for silencers and short barreled firearms, the registration scheme serves no other purpose than to create an unlawful barrier to keep people from exercising their Second Amendment rights.
