While aimed primarily at Glocks because of the highly illegal &#8220;Glock switches&#8221;, it will impact a number of other striker fired handguns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As is usual with bills like this, police departments, police officers, and retired police officers are exempted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Illinois State Rifle Association has issued the following alert. If you are a resident of Illinois, you need to file a witness slip immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From ISRA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Illinois gun owners need to act now.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>HB4471, known as the \u201cGlock Ban Bill,\u201d has been posted for a hearing in the Illinois House Gun Violence Prevention Committee on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>ISRA is asking every law-abiding gun owner to file a witness slip in OPPOSITION to HB4471.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please file your witness slip today.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Use this link:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ilga.gov\/House\/hearings\/details\/3134\/23058\/CreateWitnessSlip\/?legislationId=165192&amp;GaId=18&amp;View=Create\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/ilga.gov\/House\/hearings\/details\/3134\/23058\/CreateWitnessSlip\/?legislationId=165192&amp;GaId=18&amp;View=Create<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This bill targets common handguns by focusing on certain internal firearm designs, including the cruciform trigger bar used by Glock and other firearm manufacturers. While Glock appears to be the main target, this language could reach beyond one company and affect other lawful handguns owned by responsible citizens.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The excuse for this bill is the illegal use of \u201cswitches\u201d that convert firearms to fully automatic fire.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>But those devices are already illegal under state and federal law.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Criminals who use illegal conversion devices should be prosecuted.
