This became the basis of the <a href=\"http:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/saf-and-alan-gura-go-after-chicagoagain.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit brought by the Second Amendment Foundation in <i>Ezell v. Chicago<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Kendell&#8217;s<a href=\"http:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com\/2010\/10\/ezell-v-chicago-preliminary-injunction.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> denial of a preliminary injunction<\/a> was appealed by Alan Gura to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals <a href=\"http:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com\/2011\/04\/ezell-v-chicago-oral-arguments-before.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">where it appears quite likely he will win his injunction<\/a>. When a judge says to you, &#8220;Mr. Gura, what would you like your injunction to say&#8221;, any reasonable person would take that as a good sign.<\/p>\n<p>Against this background comes a report in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/news\/politics\/6292004-418\/gun-ranges-to-be-allowed-in-chicago-under-rahms-proposal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Sun-Times<\/a> that Mayor Rahm Emanuel will introduce an ordinance next week to allow shooting ranges in Chicago.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>The new ordinance should address the concerns raised in the lawsuit, officials say.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed ordinance limits gun ranges to areas zoned for manufacturing. Outdoor ranges would be banned.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone opening a gun range would have to obtain a gun permit from the city and obtain approval from the Chicago Police Department for a safety plan.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Court of Appeals has not rendered a decision in this case and, presumably, an ordinance allowing shooting ranges would moot the case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the New Chicago Gun Law was passed in 2010, shooting ranges for civilians were banned.
