Such is the case with the California Department of Justice and their newly announced &#8220;assault weapons&#8221; regulations. The 52 pages of the new regulations can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net\/firearmspolicycoalition\/pages\/58\/attachments\/original\/1511373619\/AW_Def._Notice_Package_112217_-_Reduced.pdf?1511373619\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Firearms Policy Coalition challenged their rulemaking in the past and won based upon how they sought to implement them without public comment. A public hearing on the new<br \/>\nregulations is scheduled for 10 a.m. on January 8, 2018, at the<br \/>\nResources Building Auditorium in Sacramento.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Times; font-size: 12pt; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Times; font-size: 12pt; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Last<br \/>\n December, the California DOJ submitted its first attempt at \u201cassault<br \/>\nweapons\u201d regulations under the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) \u201cFile<br \/>\n&amp; Print\u201d process, which means that the DOJ believed the regulations<br \/>\nwere not subject to public notice or comment. However, thousands of FPC<br \/>\nmembers and Second Amendment supporters sent letters opposing the secret<br \/>\n process through FPC\u2019s grassroots tools and, without further comment,<br \/>\nthe DOJ withdrew the regulations near the end of OAL review period. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Times; font-size: 12pt; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Times; font-size: 12pt; margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Then,<br \/>\n in May, the DOJ re-submitted regulations under the same \u201cFile &amp;<br \/>\nPrint\u201d process. Those regulations were summarily rejected by OAL a<br \/>\nlittle more than a month later.
