I found a very appropriate one that helps put June 6, 1944, D-Day, the invasion of Normandy into perspective.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/d-day-graphic1.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"549\" data-original-width=\"976\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/d-day-graphic1.png\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>\nI found this infographic on <a href=\"https:\/\/military.id.me\/firepower\/lets-never-forget-just-how-enormous-d-day-really-was\/?fbclid=IwAR3o1gi0o8euaRsoWMzX-if4sWsQA9PKJakF4_bi3MUMngdoO6aXnQu8O7M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Sitrep<\/a> and it came from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/guides\/zgvyyrd?ns_mchannel=social&amp;ns_campaign=BBC_iWonder&amp;ns_source=twitter&amp;ns_linkname=knowledge_and_learning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC guide to D-Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/vodkapundit\/d-day-by-the-numbers-by-the-men\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephen Green<\/a> gives another perspective on the numbers involved.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\n<i>I want you to imagine picking up every resident of a medium-sized city, everything they&#8217;ll need to eat and drink and rest for a few days, any vehicles they might need, gasoline, of course, plus lots of guns and ammo &#8212; did I mention this was a hunting trip? &#8212; and then moving them all in a few short hours a distance of anywhere from 30 to 125 miles or so.<\/p>\n<p>Now imagine you have to move all those people and all that stuff partly by air, but mostly across heavy seas in foul weather.<\/p>\n<p>Under enemy fire.<\/p>\n<p>I should also mention that if you messed up any of the big details, a lot of your people are going to die, and then you&#8217;re going to have to figure out how to move them all back without getting too many more of them killed.<\/p>\n<p>And all that is just the beginning. Because once you&#8217;ve done all that, those men on that &#8220;hunting trip&#8221; are going to have to take and widen a beachhead big enough and secure enough that you can rebuild (or build from scratch!) the ports and roads necessary to bring another million men over&#8230; plus all the additional stuff all those additional men will need.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve followed this blog for any amount of time, you know I love infographics.
