Of course my readeers know that you should have the means to armed self-defence before the SHTF.<\/p>\n<p>According to a spokesperson for Hyatt Gun Shop most of the purchases were for 12-gauge shotguns and buckshot. What was never mentioned in these stories is the purchase of a handgun in North Carolina requires either a pistol purchase permit or a NC Concealed Handgun Permit. Absent one of those two documents, you were legally restricted to purchasing a long gun. This is true even if it was a private sale.<\/p>\n<p>While the Alan Gura&#8217;s win in <i><a href=\"http:\/\/onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com\/2012\/05\/north-carolina-will-not-appeal-bateman.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bateman <\/a><\/i>overturned the previous restrictions on possession of a firearm outside the home during a state of emergency as well as the restriction on firearm sales, we are still stuck with the Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permit.<\/p>\n<p>Grass Roots North Carolina has been fighting the battle to get the permit system repealed for a number of years. They sent out the following alert yesterday afternoon requesting people contact both Gov. Pat McCrory (R-NC) and his Democratic opponent Attorney Gen. In fact, it has always been GRNC\u2019s position that<br \/>\narchaic and shameful laws designed to deny citizens their rights, like<br \/>\nthe<br \/>\nJim Crow-era Pistol Purchase Permit (PPP), must be eradicated. With all<br \/>\nof GRNC\u2019s moral arguments and its unceasing effort to eliminate the PPP<br \/>\nsystem, never before has the need to discard this old-fashioned and<br \/>\nembarrassing legality been so obvious\u2014and so critical. <\/p>\n<p>                                                                     <strong>A Right<br \/>\nDelayed is a Life put in Peril <\/strong><br \/> <br \/>\n                                         As you may be aware, several<br \/>\ncounties around the state, including Mecklenburg County, have been using<br \/>\n bureaucratic loopholes and high-demand for guns as an excuse to<br \/>\nseverely<br \/>\ndelay the issuance of PPPs and Concealed Handgun Permits (CHP).&nbsp; Indeed,<br \/>\n it is true that, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/37810364:sEqmsab2N:m:1:345463350:7B41F0CDA24F8D53D68964F267791394:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a right delayed is a right denied<\/a>.\u201d However,<br \/>\nin the context of a city ravaged by violent rioters, it should also be said that, <strong>a right delayed is a life put in peril<\/strong>. As a small<br \/>\nbut deviant portion of Charlotte\u2019s populace, reinforced by <a href=\"http:\/\/paracom.paramountcommunication.com\/ct\/37810365:sEqmsab2N:m:1:345463350:7B41F0CDA24F8D53D68964F267791394:r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">out-of-state agitators<\/a>,<br \/>\n attempted to raze Charlotte,<br \/>\nlaw-abiding and rightfully terrified citizens lined up to purchase<br \/>\nmuch-needed handguns to protect their families, only to be told, \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These citizens were told that they would be barred from purchasing<br \/>\ndefensive handguns until the weeks-long, and now often delayed, PPP<br \/>\nand\/or CHP<br \/>\nprocess could be completed. The Sheriff and other law enforcement<br \/>\nofficials are paid to protect and serve the citizens, and thank goodness<br \/>\n for the<br \/>\nofficers on the street. However, it is ironic that the law enforcement<br \/>\nbureaucracy has been weighted to keep these same citizens from<br \/>\nprotecting<br \/>\nthemselves, particularly when the need is so immediate, and the<br \/>\nsituation so dire. <\/p>\n<p>        In the context of riots, where citizens are at more risk than<br \/>\never<br \/>\nand law-enforcement is overwhelmed, laws delaying the citizen\u2019s access<br \/>\nto defensive weapons serve only to empower the thugs, thugs who seek to<br \/>\nhurt these citizens and their livelihoods. This must end! <\/p>\n<p>                                                         Below, see how<br \/>\nyou can easily contact NC\u2019s two contenders for governor. Remind them<br \/>\nthat you have not forgotten about this critical issue.
