I am reading Kurt Schlichter’s latest Kelly Turnbull thriller The Split. It had a quote that combines my Irish heritage and my disdain for “woke-ism”.

An Irish crime boss is being questioned in his Charlestown bar by a People’s Bureau of Investigation (what used to be the FBI) Special Agent regarding a bank robbery gone bad. The agent is warning that trouble is coming from the authorities if he doesn’t cooperate.

“We’ve survived Cromwell and the Potato Famine by sticking together,” Seamus said.

“But will you survive woke?”

“We’ll take our chances.”

Schlichter is a good story teller and he knows just how to parody the politically correct. I can recommend reading the whole series.

Today is the 19th anniversary of Marvin Heemeyer’s one-man war against an oppressive bureaucracy in Granby, Colorado. The name may not ring a bell but a picture of his weapon of choice will.

Yes, that heavily “modified” Komatsu D355A is what became known as “Killdozer”. It was the instrument he used to destroy 13 buildings in Granby including the town hall. You may disagree with what he did and you may disagree on the details of the story. You might even thing he was an anti-government deluded lunatic who inspires “right wing preppers.”

However, Mr. Heemeyer did leave us with a great quote in notes that were found after his self-inflicted death.

I was always willing to be reasonable until I had to be unreasonable. Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things.

Double Quote Of The Day

The quote of the day is actually a double quote of the day. Both come from the Monster Hunter himself, Larry Correia, from his post yesterday entitled bow before AppGoogleZOn.

The first quote is in reference to some members of the Stupid Party (as SayUncle calls them) whose words and actions would make Marshal Pétain nostalgic.

 All those companies are allied with the political party that hates you and wants to see your kind utterly eradicated from society, because you are bad people who deserve it. And most of the “leadership” on our side says this is fine, and it’s more important to be polite and play by rules the other side forsook a long time ago. When they get around to throwing dissidents into gulags, I’m sure guys like Mitt Romney will still be chiding us for using impolite swear words during our executions.

The second quote reinforces my belief that censorship of conservatives by Big Tech serves to remove the safety valve. The unintended consequences of that move might make our worst nightmare pale by comparison.

When tens of millions of people are feeling fucked over and that the system is rigged against them, and the media who are assuring them that everything is in fine working order are the same untrustworthy media who’ve been caught lying to them about literally everything else daily for years, now feel like their voices are being squashed by the same cabal of mega companies that have been lying and manipulating all the information we are allowed to see for years… and an increasing number of these usually calm and responsible, but now angry and disenfranchised people (who are also the ones who make society work and keep the lights on) are starting to think that lefty style stupid political violence might be the only way to be heard… so go ahead and kick them while they are down.

I’m sure that will work out splendidly, with absolutely no long term negative consequences.

Quote Of The Day

The quote of the day comes from an op-ed in the Washington Times. In it, Mark Houser and Matthew Larosiere discuss the inclusion of short barreled rifles and shotguns in the National Firearms Act of 1934. As originally written, the bill would have effectively banned all small concealable firearms and especially handguns. That was going too far for Congress and the handgun portion was stripped from the eventual bill that passed. However, they never got around to removing the language on minimum lengths for rifles and shotguns.

Having minimum lengths was necessary if you were going to ban handguns to prevent people from just cutting down a rifle or shotgun. However, once handguns were removed from the bill, it really served no purpose.

But even in 1934, exempting handguns from the NFA was necessary to secure sufficient support for its passage. And with the demise of the handgun ban, the minimum size rules now serve about the same function as a cancer-prone vestigial organ: They don’t accomplish anything useful, but they sure can get you into trouble.

The quote of the day comes from my friend David Cole who blogs at DeltaBravoCharlie.com. It is from his Facebook page and captures the essence of the BATFE’s moves on 80% frames/lowers and pistol braces. The quote references Ayn Rand’s masterpiece Atlas Shrugged.

In case you’re not sure if your braced AR pistol or your 80% gun build is legal, remember this passage from “Atlas Shrugged”…

I read an article yesterday entitled “An Open Letter to A Young Woke Revolutionary.” It was by Lincoln Brown who had his progressive eyes opened when he visited Cambodia with a church group as part of an “awareness mission” dealing with human trafficking. He learned about that but he also got to see the aftermath of the horrors inflicted upon the Cambodian people by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge.

The article is a warning to those, who in a push for “social justice” (sic), engage in cancel culture. When you run out of people and ideas to cancel, where do you turn?

So, beware. Once you have eliminated us, once you have liquidated, imprisoned, or re-educated the last of the so-called patriarchy, your troubles will only be beginning. Look to your left and look to your right. One of those people may be the one who slits your throat.

I read a most interesting article by Anthony DeWitt in Richochet. It concerned the suit brought by NY Attorney General Letitia James to dissolve the NRA. It is entitled “Wayne’s World is Crumbling”.

DeWitt, like many of us, is pretty angry the NRA’s future has been put in jeopardy thanks to Wayne LaPierre and his cronies. As he notes, nothing has been proved yet and it is still a list of allegations. Nonetheless, he is feeling used and abused by Wayne and his crowd of grifters and has no problem with James taking them to task.

The meat of the issue which DeWitt points out is just whom is the victim.

If the smoke proves to be from a fire, and the mirrors turn out to be a true reflection of the leadership of the NRA, then I have no quarrel with her taking on LaPierre and his alleged co-conspirators who have allegedly defrauded the membership. I have no quarrel with her investigation demonstrating that the NRA Board of Directors is little more than a bunch of chained and costumed characters in an S&M bondage flick. But let’s remember, they defrauded the membership, not the state of New York, and the membership is not perpetrator, they’re the victim. What the NY AG proposes is, in fact, just shooting everyone.

DeWitt is correct. The victim here are the 5 million members of the NRA whose dues and donations have provided a very nice lifestyle for a bunch of grifters and hanger’s on.

The quote of the day comes from a new book by Robert Pobi entitled, “Under Pressure”. It is about as accurate description of the mainstream media in these days and times as I have seen.

As the bird shuddered down, the wall of faces lining the perimeter were hidden behind SLRs, lighting, and shoulder-mounted video cameras – journalists here to generate the sugar high of fear that was now as much a part of the American diet as hot dogs, apple pie, and gluten-free muffins.

To generate the sugar high of fear. Isn’t that what we see in the media regardless of whether they are talking about the pandemic or about guns?

As to the book, I have an advanced reader’s copy and I’m liking what I’m reading so far. Some books start slow and gradually hook you. This one has hooked me from the start.

We should all know what former Congresssman and current presidential candidate Robert Francis O’Rourke said by now. If you don’t, you can see it here.

Alan Gottlieb, wearing his Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms hat, had a good response to the mask coming off.

“Thanks to O’Rourke,” he noted, “Democrats have just graduated from being the ‘party of gun control’ to officially being the ‘party of gun confiscation,’ and nobody in the firearms community is going to forget that.


“From this moment forward,” he predicted, “when Democrats talk about ‘gun reform’ or ‘gun safety,’ the whole country will know they’re not just talking about gun control, they’re talking about taking firearms from law-abiding citizens who have committed no crime.

The quote of the day comes from the Firearms and Politics mailing list. C. D. Tavares, a longtime poster on the list, had this to say about Wayne LaPierre and the most recent purges.

When the henhouse needs guarding, should we be amazed to see the wolves throwing their support behind the lamest dog left on the farm?

Our enemies in the gun prohibition industry have seen this and have sent out lots of fundraising emails saying the NRA is in trouble. You just know they are secretly wishing that Wayne will keep holding on to his job until it is pried from his cold dead hands.
