NSSF On The Election Outcome

The National Shooting Sports Foundation released both a statement and a video message regarding President-elect Trump’s win. As to their #Gunvote campaign, I did see one of the billboards here in Asheville. I was actually a bit surprised.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms and ammunition industry, today congratulates President-Elect Donald Trump on his historic victory.

The American people have spoken. We have elected a president who has pledged to protect our Constitutional rights and a majority of both houses of Congress that will work to ensure that our individual right to keep and bear arms will be preserved.

The work of those who love liberty and our nation’s hunting and shooting traditions is never over. Americans need to remain involved to help ensure that the defense of our Second Amendment remains strong and the lawful commerce in firearms is protected at all levels of government.

We thank all those Americans who supported NSSF’s 2016 #GUNVOTE voter education and registration initiative. We know that we can count on you. You should know that we remain steadfast in our mission to help promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports.

This Election, Make Your Vote a #GUNVOTE!

To extend Larry Keane’s argument even further, even if you do live in a state that will go overwhelmingly for either Hillary or Trump, you still may be able to impact gun rights.

Take for example both California and Washington State. There is no way in hell that Trump will win either state. However, both have ballot initiatives that will restrict gun rights. In California, it is Prop 63 which outlaws standard cap magazines, requires a background check for ammo purchases, and creates an ammo registry. In Washington State, it is Initiative 1491 which would allow the police, family, or household members to get a court order to take your firearms if ” the person poses a significant danger,
including danger as a result of a dangerous mental health crisis or
violent behavior.”

If you live in either Nevada or Maine, then you know you have ballot initiatives that would mandate universal background checks. These are both being paid for by Bloomberg and his money.

From NSSF’s #Gunvote

The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s #Gunvote has released a new video after Hillary Clinton’s “reinterpretation” of the Heller decision.

From their Government Relations Update email:

During
the last Presidential Debate of the 2016 Election season on Wednesday
night, Hillary Clinton was asked by moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News
to explain her statement from a year ago that “The Supreme Court is
wrong on the Second Amendment.” Specifically, Wallace asked her to
explain her problem with the reasoning of landmark Heller decision.

Once
again, the American public saw Mrs. Clinton’s general election strategy
play out of providing lip service to the Second Amendment while soft
peddling what are her true strong gun control sentiments. This time, she
surprised observers by saying, “I disagreed with the way the court
applied the Second Amendment in that case, because what the District of
Columbia was trying to do was to protect toddlers from guns and so they
wanted people with guns to safely store them.” An Associated Press Fact Check termed that claim a “misstatement.” See and share the #GUNVOTE video.

To save you some time, I have embedded the video below.

Another New #GunVote Video

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has released another of their #GunVote videos. This one features a number of quotes from the gun prohibitionists regarding their plans for more gun control and more bans.

This video has a great ending tagline – “one vote stands between your and your gun rights – your vote.” These YouTube ads from NSSF are in a league of their own.

#gunvote

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has just released a 30-second public service ad reminding people just what is at stake in this election. They remind people that one vote is what made the difference in the Heller and McDonald cases and that the next President of the United States will likely nominate at least one new Supreme Court Justice.

I think it is an effective and well done adverstisement. The NSSF has a special section on their website devoted to the #gunvote campaign. It has news, lets people find where their polling station is located, and has a registration guide for all 50 states plus the District of Columbus.
