Elected!

From Stephanie Daniels, Asst NRA Secretary, at 12:06pm

Congratulations! Based on the draft report of the ballot results, you have been elected to the NRA Board of Directors for a three-year term ending in 2028. The newly elected Directors will be recognized at the Annual Meeting of Members in Atlanta, Georgia, Saturday, April 26, and will take office upon the adjournment of the meeting. The Board will meet on Monday, April 28. Authorization to attend the meetings will be emailed to you under separate cover. We look forward to seeing you there.

In terms of who else has been elected, I know Theresa Inacker, Jim Sheckels, and Scott Emslie. According to my email with Rocky Marshall, so far we know that 7 of NRA 2.0 were elected and 3 were not.

UPDATE 1: You can add Anthony Colandro, Al Hammond, and Todd Ellis to the list of those elected. On the downside, it just kills me that Todd Vandermyde did not get elected. He had a ton of great ideas plus the experience to make the difference in legislative affairs.

UPDATE 2: In addition to Todd, I heard that David Mitten, Regis Synan, Todd Figard, Jim Wallace, and, shockingly, Frank Tait were not elected from the NRA 2.0 team. I did hear that Bob Barr and Sandy Froman were re-elected.

On the plus side, Jim Porter, Knox Williams, Jonathan Goldstein, Philip Gray, Willes Lee, and Cathy Wright were elected from the NRA 2.0 team. Additionally, Tom King was not re-elected.

UPDATE 3: Rounding out the results for NRA 2.0 team, Mitzy McCorvey, Jack Hagan, Howard Massingill, Dick Fairburn, Jim Fotis, and Jason Wilson were elected. On the downside, Charles Hiltunen along with the two write-in candidates, Paul Babaz and Charles Brown, were not elected.

I don’t have the rank order of candidates yet but have heard it will be sent to the Board tomorrow. It should also be posted on the publications website after that so perhaps Friday or more likely Monday.

  1. The NRA needs a smaller board of directors. 76 is unfathomable. No one knows who’s doing what or what’s going on. Electing new people won’t solve the problem. The average corporate board size is 12 directors. Many corporation have just 7 to 10 directors.
The NRA has more directors than the state of Rhode Island has state representatives.
    Downsize the board.

  2. I have followed you on “Only Lawyers” for best part of 15 years. I haven’t been a member of the NRA since the Annual Meeting was in St. Louis. With you on the board, I will consider sending in my money once again. Like Nick, I also believe that the number of board members need to be reduced. Even shedding just 3 each election would be a move in the right direction. I’m still not a fan of Barr, not when he was pretending to be a Republican, not when he was pretending to be a Libertarian. Now he’s pretending to be a firearms rights activist and reformer of the NRA?

    1. Don’t forget that there was an incident while President Barr was campaigning for congress, that he was handed a loaded pistol at an event and shot out a window.
      GLASS LIVES MATTER

  3. How are people like Willes Lee and Jim Porter getting re-elected a plus?
Willes Lee is as rotten as WLP. Porter’s even worse considering he’s a lawyer by trade, so he can’t have any excuses for not knowing the law. “Not knowing” NY non profit law, is NOT a legal defense.
Willes Lee and Jim Porter voted for WLP for decades. Porter was even NRA President. Lee was a VP, and did Cotton’s bidding on the SLC.
How can one say these two are good guys?
They had decades worth of chances to expose corruption, yet… When did they speak? Lee started to cry on Facebook as the NYAG trial was about to begin. And Porter only made a stink about Bill Brewer last fall.
The fact a so called “reformer” like Mr. Richardson was rooting for them, speaks volumes.

  4. Congratulations, Mr. Richardson. I can say with confidence that having you on the board will be a good thing.
