Immoral To Repeal One Gun A Month In Virginia?

Not so says the Rev. Kenn Blanchard in response to Jim Winkler who called it immoral for Gov. Bob McDonnell to have signed the repeal of Virginia’s One Handgun A Month law. Winker is the general secretary of the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church and chair of Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence. Faiths United is a project of the Brady Campaign.

Winkler says of Gov. McDonnell,

But our governor put the agenda of a lobby ahead of the people he was elected to represent. He put the gun lobby’s agenda ahead of protecting the residents of his state from the life-altering and life-ending horror of gun violence. Innocent lives will be lost as a result. It is not only shameful that the governor did this, it is immoral.

Pastor Kenn rightly says the repealed Virginia law was “worthless” and that it is “ethical for us to protect ourselves, it is ethical for us to protect our families, congregations, and country.” He goes on to say that using the word immoral is just wrong. I couldn’t agree more.

Pastor Kenn At Media Day

I really like Kenn Blanchard but sometimes it is tough when I see him out in beautiful sunny Nevada at the SHOT Show Media Day playing with all the “new toys” while I’m stuck here in gray, overcast North Carolina working. Grumble, grumble.

I’m actually looking forward to more reports from Kenn and the other gun bloggers from SHOT Show. If I can’t be there, it is good to know that friends are and are working hard on getting the word out.

Congratulations To Kenn On Five Years Of Podcasting

Rev. Kenn Blanchard, the Black Man with a Gun, and my brother from another mother, is celebrating five years of podcasting. His Urban Shooter/Black Man with a Gun podcast was one of the first ones that I started listening to on my old iPod Nano and I’m still listening.

I’ve shot with Kenn, I’ve talked with Kenn, I’ve ridden with Kenn, and I’ve eaten with Kenn and he is one of the finest individuals that grace the face of this Earth. We are extremely lucky to have him on our side in the gun rights debate.

You can find his podcast on iTunes or at his podcast website. Make sure to check out his blog and website at www.kennblanchard.com.

Black Man With A Gun

We got to meet the Rev. Kenn Blanchard at the Second Amendment Foundation booth in Pittsburgh. Kenn puts out the Urban Shooter podcast. I’ve listened to Kenn for at least a couple of years now. He is both knowledgeable and incredibly funny.

You can download his podcasts on iTunes or listen on his site.

Kenn is also the author of Black Man with a Gun.

Now if only the GunDudes had been there. I guess I will have to wait until the Gun Rights Policy Conference provided I can make it.
