I’m in the process of doing the same. While I have used packing cubes that supposedly compressed the clothing, I wish I had gone with the vacuum ones and may investigate it for future trips. I really don’t care if stuff is wrinkled as I’ll be out in the field.
I will say that every trip is different and you find ways to pack more efficiently with experience. I’m not quite there yet!
