Bloomberg’s Illegal Mayors Adds A New Member

Rochester, New York Mayor Lovely Warren was indicted today on two felony counts of campaign fraud. The charges were announced by Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley. Warren is a member of Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

From the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle:

The first charge is for first-degree scheme to defraud; the second is an election law offense for illegally coordinating activities and expenditures.

The grand jury indictment is connected to Warren’s 2017 mayoral re-election campaign. Warren has adamantly refused any wrongdoing in the matter.

Warren and two campaign associates also indicted Friday will be arraigned at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in front of Cayuga County Judge Thomas Leone in Monroe County.

If convicted of the felony charges, Warren would be removed from office under state law. The maximum sentence would be 16 months to four years in prison, but Warren would be unlikely to be incarcerated. Her pension could be forfeited, however, if the matter is determined to be a crime related to public office, and she also could lose her law license.

Albert Jones, her campaign treasurer, and Rosalind Brooks-Harris, treasurer of her PAC and the city’s finance director, were also indicted.

Warren is claiming any transfers between her campaign and her political action committee that broke the law were “unintentional errors”. However, according to former lobbyist Robert Scott Gaddy, he and a campaign finance lawyer alerted her to the illegality issue and she “intentionally disregarded the advice.”

I’ve lost count of the number of mayors who belong to Bloomberg’s group that have been indicted. I’m sure the tally is high enough to make even the most jaded politician blush.

Below is DA Doorley’s press conference announcing the charges:

TV Ad Execs And Political Consultants Are Saying Hallelujah!

Move over Tom Steyer. There is another narcissist Democrat billionaire who wants to be President.

From a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, said he would join the Democratic presidential race despite facing a tough path to the nomination in a crowded 2020 field.

Mr. Bloomberg’s advisers have been drawing up plans to build his campaign staff, intending to focus on the delegate-rich Super Tuesday states, which vote on March 3.

Many of the Democratic candidates have invested fewer resources in those states than in the first few nominating contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

The primary beneficiaries of Bloomberg’s largess would seem to be advertising executives and political consultants as he plans to spend big.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg plans to spend over $100 million on his campaign.

Ahead of his announcement, Mr. Bloomberg said he would spend $100 million on digital ads against Mr. Trump and another $15 million to $20 million on registering new voters.

He had also begun assembling a big staff for his campaign-in-waiting that was working out of the offices of Bloomberg Philanthropies, which oversees the former mayor’s charitable giving, according to a person familiar with the matter.

While the many media stories on Bloomberg’s presidential run mention his wealth, none so far mention gun control. However, Bloomberg himself does list that as one of the issues he will address in his campaign. It is number three on the list on his campaign website.

With all the money that Bloomberg plans to spread around, perhaps the gaggle of corrupt MAIG mayors will seek some of it in return for campaign support. That way then they can stop indulging in public corruption like the former mayor of Baltimore.

Another Illegal Bloomberg Mayor

Yet another member of Mayor Bloomberg’s Illegal Mayors has been arrested. Muncie, Indiana Mayor Dennis Tyler was arrested by the FBI on Monday for accepting a $5,000 bribe to steer a public works contract.

From the Muncie Star-Press:

The 76-year-old Tyler was indicted last Wednesday by a U.S. District Court grand jury on a count of theft of public funds. The indictment was then sealed, setting the stage for the mayor’s arrest by FBI agents Monday morning at his northside Muncie home.

“Public officials are entrusted to perform a public service and to legitimately conduct business in the best interest of the community that they represent,” U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said Monday. “Tyler not only betrayed the trust of his community, but violated federal law, and all in an effort to serve his own personal interests.

“My office intends to prosecute Tyler to the full extent of the law.”

The FBI has been investigating corruption in the Muncie mayor’s office and the sanitation department since 2016. Seven others have been indicted since them for taking bribes, kickbacks, wire fraud, and other Federal charges.

As a side note, you would have had to wait until the 29th and final paragraph in the story to learn that Tyler was a Democrat.

Another Illegal Mayor

Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns can sure pick them. The newest member of his slate of illegal mayors is Jasiel Correia II of Fall River, Massachusetts.

The good mayor and his chief of staff Genoveva Andrade were just arrested on Federal charges. The indictments include bribery, extortion conspiracy, extortion and aiding and abetting, wire fraud, and filing false tax returns

From Business Insider:

The 27-year old mayor of Fall River, Massachusetts, was arrested Friday morning and charged with a slew of crimes, including extorting legal marijuana businesses for hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes, federal prosecutors said.

Jasiel F. Correia II, the mayor, was arrested along with his former chief of staff, Genoveva Andrade. Beyond the bribes, Correia has been accused of extorting a building owner for cash and a Rolex watch in exchange for activating the water supply to a commercial building, and demanding that his chief of staff give him half of her salary in return for appointing her and allowing her to keep her city job, according to prosecutors.

Correia would get anywhere from $100,000 to $250,000 in bribes to issue “non-opposition letters”. These letters are a Massachusetts requirement that marijuana businesses are required obtain from the local head of government. Without these “non-opposition letters”, they could not open for business. Correia has issued 14 of these letters.

As I’ve said many a time in the past, this organization should be renamed Mayor Bloomberg’s Illegal Mayors given their criminal activities.
