The tweet of the day illustrates the cognitive dissonance on the part of the Left with regard to the firearms industry. A Florida lawyer who devotes much of his time to researching “the right-wing” seems to think that the firearms industry has had no supply chain issues.
Rob Romano’s tweet humorously corrects that misapprehension.

The New York Police Department is looking to hire 73 part-time investigators whose job includes doing background checks for handgun licenses.

Among the job duties the NYPD has for these new hires is this:
Conducting interviews and investigations of candidates applying for handgun licenses; process various applications for carrying handguns; determine and ensure applicant meets requirements for license requested; fingerprint applicant using LIVESCAN system; research various databases and contact references to substantiate information submitted by applicant; and notify applicant of approval or appeal process for denial of handgun permit.
While you can never predict what the Supreme Court will do, it seems to me that the NYPD is signaling that they expect the court to rule against New York in NYSRPA v. Bruen. That case is a challenge to the state’s denial of carry permits for the purpose of self-defense.
In this instance, I really hope that the NYPD is correct in their assessment.
Normally I would call this post “Tweet of the Day”. However, I found the title in Rob Romano’s tweet too good not to use.
Rob is the creator of the invaluable Gun Case Tracker which follows virtually every 2A related case at the Federal and state level. He is also the Community Communications Director for the Firearms Policy Coalition.
For those of us in the gun rights community, the acronym NRA means the National Rifle Association. For anti-gun politicians and the media, it is shorthand for both the National Rifle Association and every other gun rights group. Given their top-down approach, it is hard for them to conceive that the largest organization doesn’t control everything. It is also hard for them to conceive that the grassroots can actually make their voice heard without a lot of prodding from the folks in Fairfax.
