My package containing 236 petition sheets with 547 signatures was delivered to the NRA’s Office of the Secretary this morning. It cost me $92.22 but it was worth it.
When dealing with the powers that be, it always pays to have proof!
I know I have more petitions coming in as UPS has notified me of at least two packages that are delayed by the storm. I plan to send those in to Fairfax because why not. They can turn their nose up at them and not count them but they will know that even more voting members are demanding change.
Congrats! Agree that’s money well spent.
It actually would be interesting to see how they respond to late delivery from a disaster area. Other national groups I’m part of have policies for dealing with issues like this for business normally conducted in hurricane and tornado season. It’s not unreasonable to expect they should have a system for accommodation that’s still reasonable. Other groups do it.
I have another 33 yesterday that were sent to me by 2nd Day Air on Oct. 2nd. They would have been in time to go out with the 547 except they were delayed by Helene. I had another 3 petitions that arrived by mail on Monday that were also delayed by Helene.
Both Rocky Marshall and I were told by John Frazer the bylaws had no exception for Helene or other disasters. He didn’t want to speculate on how they would handle it and just urged that we do our best to get them in on time.
Congrats. I am tardy on hearing about the petition (i just finished your chat w Alex O on his podcast). Glad to see you were successful. Best wishes.
