I Think I’ll Pass On This Suggestion

Facebook will often make suggestions on people to “friend”. It may be that you and that person share a number of mutual friends, have common interests, or the like. While responding to a new friend request this weekend, I got this suggestion yesterday.

I am going to have to pass on that one.

The list of reasons why I’d never friend him could go “to infinity and beyond” to quote the great philosopher Buzz Lightyear.

I’ll keep it classy and leave it at that.

  1. About ten or twelve years ago, I had the honor of being permanently banned from his forum.
    My sin?
Calling him on a point of nonsense, and doing politely and courteously so via private message, so as not to spark a public row.
(I believe it was in response to one of his tirades against open carry, licensed or otherwise, and how passing that would scare the people enough to get handguns completely banned in Texas or some such drivel. Open carry, especially permitless carry, being a threat to his CHL training income, of course.)
The old man is very experienced at talking a game, but he is every bit as corrupt as WLP, possibly lacking in scale only because he did not have access to quite the same level of funding. And he can NOT tolerate criticism other than fawning adulation.
That he has inveigled his way into the upper echelons of the NRA is only one more reason I will not send them another red cent until the entire current “leadership” is dead or in jail.

  2. If that Lee Weems is the Chief Deputy of Oconee County Ga, He’s a pretty standup guy…

    1. I would agree about Lee Weems. I’ve only heard good things about him. As to Charles Cotton……
