Quite A Find In Syria

Just looking at the contents of this shipping container is enough to get most collectors and Crufflers drooling. I can’t imagine what a full container of Sturmgewehr-44s was doing in Syria.

ForgottenWeapons.com notes that these StG-44s could only be imported as parts kits to the United States. What a shame! I like their suggestion for the Syrian rebels to trade these antiques for a larger number of modern firearms.

Ba'ath Party. In both Syria and Iraq Ba'ath Party had oodles of guns from Greek and Armenia arms deals for functionaries (they have the cell, district, region, national structure).

"Where are they going to get ammo? 7.92×33 is quite expensive and obscure."

    Serbia. Or, load it themselves.

  2. If they sold them to the US as parts kits, I'm sure a cottage industry would spring up to make both receivers and ammo, and perhaps to rebarrel them in some other cartridge.

I bet the Syrian rebels could get loads of money for these to fund their resistance. Here's hoping.
