I saw this meme on Reddit and found it amusing. It compares watch guys to gun guys and finds they are similar.
Even funnier to me is that I own or have owned watches from all three companies and two of the three handgun makers. I am going to presume that Ruger owners have the Citizen Eco-Drives and that guys with old Hamilton Automatic watches use 1911s. Not sure where I’d put the guys wearing a Casio G-Shock.
Of course, right now I’m wearing a Bulova WW2 commemorative military style watch that I picked up off of EBay for about $50 years ago. I’ve had to replace the original olive canvas band with a nylon Nato band because it wore out.
Well the pilot episode of Stargate SG-1 they had Casio G-shocks and Beretta 92s, though they later switched to Suunto Vectors.
True story John. My wife and I bought each other Rolex’s as wedding presents, not the fanciest, but they are now worth more (used) than when I paid for them and we’ve got 30 years use of them.
They sound like my 50s vintage Rolex Air King. My father-in-law got it as a gift sometime in the 1050s and it probably costs about $100 or less at the time. I know I have spent much more on having overhauled over the years since I inherited it. I’d wear it daily if it kept good time. I should probably sell it and pay for most of my planned safari in Africa. I think I only keep it for the sentimental value as my late wife (pre-Complementary Spouse) wore it daily.
I too wear a Bulova. And while I carry an M&P 9mm when not at work, the yen to go back to revolvers has been pulling hard on me lately.
I alternate my Bulova with a small Seiko 5 automatic, a Citizen EcoDrive, and a Gavox from Belgium. None of them have mega-big cases which would get lost on my wrist.
LOL, I actually have an old Hamilton manual wind, and yes, I like 1911s…
Bertucci watch when I even wear one. Simple, reliable, durable. It’s not trying to work at anything more than being that. I talk about it about as much as I think about it, which is almost never. I carry an HK 9 or a smaller Kimber 45 depending on circumstance. But I feel like Bertucci = Springfield (contemporary) in substance. Which I have but don’t carry because reasons, but their spirits seem aligned. ;D
So what kind of gun is associated with a retired person who doesn’t care what time it is?
A Colt Single Action Army.
Because no matter what time zone you’re in, it’s High Noon somewhere in the world….
