by I found the following amusing though profoundly sad in its implications. At one time the FBI was a very respected institution. Lately it seems they are just another part of the politically-correct deep state who are more concerned with trapping Republicans for minor transgressions than in preventing honest to god, people are gonna die, terrorism.

Sad but true…
Remind me again where the words "police powers" are written in the U. S. Constitution. That power was never delegated to the Federal Gov't.
Of course, that's not including the morons the FBI recruited, encouraged, provided material support, and paid to conduct an "attack" just so they could arrest someone on terrorism charges.
The FBI's reputation has always exceeded the reality.
